Resolve Error: INVALID_KEY_OR_REF: Invalid custrecord_propcaretaker reference key XXX in Asset Creation

Scenario

Customer is creating assets from asset proposal and encountered an Error: "INVALID_KEY_OR_REF: Invalid custrecord_propcaretaker reference key XXX."

Solution

The error was referring toID:custrecord_propcaretaker. This field is theCustodian fieldin General tab of theFAM Asset Proposal.

The error is received because theasset proposalcannot be created due to the value in theCustodian Field.

Custodianare employee responsible for the asset.

Check the internal ID being referenced in the error log on theemployee records.

  • Navigate toHome>Set Preferences>General>Defaultssection > Mark the boxShow Internal IDS>Save.

Make sure this employee is active:

  1. Navigate toLists>Employees>Employees.

  2. Mark theShow Inactivescheckbox.

  3. Locate the Internal ID based on the error received.

  4. ClickEdit.

  5. Unmark theInactivecheckbox.

  6. ClickSave.

Also, you may check and change if there is a default custodian you can edit by following the steps below:

  1. Navigate toFixed Assets>Setup>Asset Types.

  2. ClickEditfor <Asset Type>.

  3. ClickGeneraltab

  4. UnderCustodianfield, choose the employee you want to be custodian.

  5. ClickSave.
