Scenario

The user wants to know why theSales Orderhas been saved even ifEnforce Credit Limit Holdhas been set for theCustomer.

Solution

Confirm the following setting (but not limited to) to ensure that aCredit Limit Holdis enforced:

1. Navigate toSetup>Accounting>Accounting Preferences>Generaltab >Accounts Receivableportlet:

  • Customer Credit Limit Handling=Enforce Holds

  • Customer Credit Limit Includes Orders=True

2. Navigate toHome>Set Preferences>Transactionstab >Warningsportlet >Customer Credit Limit Handling=Enforce Holds

3. Navigate toLists>Relationships>Customers> Select theCustomer Name:

  • Financialtab >Hold=On(Or Auto)

  • Credit Limit=0.00(or any value as long as it is less than the total balance)

With the setup mentioned above, the customer in step 3 will not be able to place a newSales Order.

If on a given instance, a user was able to save theSales Order, consider checking theSales Orderform used.

WhenStandard Sales Orderis used, verify if aTermis selected. If no terms, it is aCash Salewhich is not triggered by the preferences. This goes the same way whenStandard Sales Order - Cash Saleform is used.

Therefore, only whenTermsis used on the form will it activate the preference. This means using one of the following:

1.Standard Sales Order - Invoice

2.Standard Sales Order - Progress Billing

3.Standard Sales Order with Terms selected

Note:Hybrid Sales Orderforms are also included whereCredit WarningorHoldwill only occur whenTermsis selected or anInvoiceis expected to be created. Consider checking where the custom forms have been customized.
