Not Able to Edit Approval Rule While Status Is Running

Scenario

User wants to edit an Approval Rule and make extensive changes.

Solution

Users can only make extensive changes to an approval rule if it is not currently running. If it is running, they can only update the rule’s end date. The system will validate the updated rule for uniqueness.

To edit an existing running Approval Rule:

1. Navigate to Setup > Approval Process Manager > Approval Rule List
2. Edit the existing Approval Rule
3. Modify the End Date to a past date
4. Click Save
