Budget vs Actual Report > Budget and Actual Amounts are not Aligned

Scenario

The amounts in the Budget vs. Actual Report are not aligned after customization in Report Builder. The amounts set under the Budget column are being compared to the amounts with zero value in the Actual column and the actual amounts in the Actual column are being compared to zero values in the Budget column. This is the case even though the Report By Period is set to either Financials Only or All Reports in Home > Set Preferences > Analytics tab.

Solution

1. Navigate to Reports > Saved Reports > All Saved Reports
2. Custom Report: Click View
   Note: Select the report where the amounts are not aligned.
3. Click Customize
4. Click Edit Columns
5. Click Financial: Account (Line): Name
6. Click Remove Column
   Note: Adding this column in the report will cause the budget and actual amounts not to be aligned because it is based on the general ledger impact and only the actual amounts have such.
7. Click Preview
   Note: Perform the above to check if the amounts are now aligned.
8. Click Return to Customization
   Note: If amounts are aligned, continue to perform above.
9. Click Save
