Scenario
Total Revenue for all locations do not match with specific location
Solution
When running Report > Sales > Sales by Item > Customize Summary
- Add Location column. Group Item column with this.
- On the Total Revenue column, mark Add % of Total Column checkbox.
- Go to Filters radio button, add Location (select one or multiple locations) and mark the Show in Filter Region checkbox.
- Hit Preview button.
Notice that the result shows that the % of Total Revenue for all locations do not match with the % of Total Revenue for a single location when filtered. For example, a class under Location A displays 94% when all locations are selected, on the other hand, when you filter the report by single location, % of total revenue is 100%.
The reason is that the report Sales by Item is relative. If all the locations are selected, then the revenue is for all and if a single location is filtered, then the revenue is only for that location. A user can try to export the report in excel (both for all and single location) and check the formula on the % of Total Revenue column.
By design, the user does not have the option to see same % of Total Revenue when location is filtered. However, he can manipulate the report by exporting the file.
