Scenario
User wants to remove a Custom Role's ability to use Inline Editing on Saved Search Results.
Inline Editing is tied up with the permission of the record type used in the Saved Search. For example, you have a Customer Saved Search. A custom role has the Customers permission with the Edit/Full access level. Once the Inline Editing toggle is on, the user with the custom role may be able to edit the fields when viewing the search results. If the role has the Customers with the View/Create access level, even if the Inline editing toggle is on, the user with the role would not be able to edit the fields on the search.
Solution
- Navigate to Setup > Users/Roles > Manage Roles
- Custom Role: Click Edit
- Look for the related permission
Example: Customers - Level: Select View or Create
- Click Save
Note: This does not remove the Inline Editing toggle; users will still be able to turn on the Inline Editing toggle but columns would not have the Pencil icon.
