SCENARIO
User is unable to use inline editing on a list or saved search, even when the Inline Editing feature is enabled.
The behavior can be caused by various reasons:
- The role of the user only has the View permission level for the permission related to the record type
- The field is to be edited is hidden on the preferred form
- The preferred Entry form's Enable Field Editing on Lists preference is disabled
- The Display Type of the field to be edited is set to Inline or Disabled
- The field to be edited uses a formula
- The field to be edited is not applied / shown to the record type
- The field to be edited is a Multiple Select field
NOTE: The field type is currently not supported via Direct List Editing. The ability to use Inline Editing for Multiple Select fields is filed under Enhancement 174567. - The role of the user does not have the Find Transaction permission
- The user tries use inline editing on a transaction list or saved search that has multiple transaction types
- The user tries use inline editing on a transaction list or saved search with results that contain line item fields
- The user tries use inline editing on a transaction list or saved search that returns rows representing line items
- The user has enabled Use Expressions on the search.

If the Use Expressions option is enabled for a search, inline editing is disabled in list, dashboard, and sublist views based on that search. If you want inline editing to be available for a view, ensure that the Use Expressions box is not checked for the search that filters view results. |
