Update the Site Category of an Item Through CSV Import – JCurve Solutions

Scenario

User noticed that a new site category was added on top of the old one instead of overriding the value in the item record’s Web Store tab > Website Categories subtab after performing CSV import.

Solution

Please follow steps below:

1. Navigate to Setup > Import/Export > Import CSV Records

2. Select Item in the Import Type field

3. Select Inventory Item in the Record Type field

4. Click Select

5. Locate the CSV file then click Open

Sample CSV file for updating an item record can contain the following data:

On this sample CSV file, Item & Category column uses the Internal ID instead of name of the record.

6. Click Next

7. Select Update for Data Handling

8. Expand Advanced Options

9. Check Overwrite Sublists

10. Click Next

11. Proceed through Field Mapping

Note: On this sample field mapping, since Internal ID was used on the Item & Category column, make sure to edit the Category column by clicking on the pencil icon and set the Choose Reference Type = Internal ID.

12. Click Next

13. Provide an Import Map Name

14. Click Save & Run
