Revert to Non-Depreciating Status Fixed Assets Inadvertently Proposed and Depreciated
Solution
I) Reverse/Delete GL Impact of the Depreciation Journal Entry created for the Fixed Assets that should not have been created and depreciated.
II) Edit FAM Asset Values Record of the Fixed Assets.
*Global Search = FAM Asset Values to see Internal IDs of the Asset Values. Use Parent Asset column as reference.
1) Prepare CSV file for FAM Asset Values update. Below are the column headers:
- Asset Values : Internal ID
- Last Depreciation Date = 1/1/1980 (default)
- Last Depreciation Period = 0
- Last Depreciation Amount = 0.00
- Current Net Book Value =
2) Perform update of FAM Asset Values records.
a) Navigate to: Setup > Import/Export > Import CSV Records
Set the following on Step 1:
--Import Type = Custom Records
--Record Type = FAM Asset Values
--Select CSV file.
b) Click, Next.
c) Select UPDATE Data Handling.
d) Under Advanced Options, and mark as TRUE Run Server SuiteScript And Workflows.
e) Click, Next.
f) On Step 4 Field Mapping, map accordingly Your Fields (CSV File column headers) to NetSuite Fields.
g) Click, Next.
h) If you want to save your mapping, enter a value for the following:
- Import Map Name
- Description
- Script ID
i) Click, Save & Run or Run.
See Import Job Status page to see the status of the import. Then, open one Asset Values record to see if it was successfully updated. After it updated, the same fields on the Fixed Asset record should be updated as well. You may click the fixed asset record link under Parent Asset Field to be routed immediately to its Asset record.
III) Set the Fixed Asset records Depreciation Active = FALSE to delete the Depreciation History Records.
1) Set Depreciation Active to FALSE via CSV Import.
Remember to use the NetSuite Field = 'Internal ID' when referencing your fixed assets. So on the CSV file we will be using the Internal ID of the fixed asset to update their value/s. This ensures that we are updating the exact same fixed asset record.
CSV may look like this:
2) Perform the CSV Import to set the Depreciation Active = FALSE.
a) Navigate to: Setup > Import/Export > Import CSV Records
Set the following on Step 1:
--Import Type = Custom Records
--Record Type = FAM Asset
--Select CSV file.
b) Click, Next.
c) Select UPDATE Data Handling.
d) Click Advanced Options, and mark as TRUE Run Server SuiteScript And Workflows.
e)Click, Next.
f) On Step 4, map accordingly Your Fields (CSV File column headers) to NetSuite Fields.
g) Click, Next.
h) If you want to save your mapping, enter a value for the following:
- Import Map Name
- Description
- Script ID
i) Click, Save & Run or Run.
See once more the Import Job Status page to see status of the import. Once completed, the Depreciation History Records of the fixed asset records should be deleted.
You may view the FAM Process Status Page every time there are changes made to records on the FAM bundle to see the background processes that are running. You may click on the Details link to view the results of a FAM Process.
After performing all the above steps the fixed asset records should be on a non-depreciating state.
