Scenario:
A user wants to filter their Item drop-down field by item description so that their customers won't be confused to see all item codes for their item name/number.

Unfortunately, this is still considered as one of the limitation in NetSuite. This enhancement request is already filed in NetSuite and is still under discussion whether to release this in the future or not.
