Scenario
To troubleshoot Reorder Point and Preferred Stock Level concerns.
Below are the possible instances which may prevent the auto-calculation from running on an item record:
- User's account is new and have no sales history data entered.
- Account have new item records that have no sales history data.
- User enabled Multi-Location Inventory and have no sales history data per location.
Solution
Order Analysis Interval
The sales history that will be analyzed by the system for the auto calculation will depend on the Order Analysis Interval set under Inventory Management Preferences. If the system is unable to gather sufficient historical data, it will attempt to perform the auto-calculation using half of the interval.
Scenario:
- Item A has sales history for 4 months
- Order Analysis Interval is set to 6 months
Auto-Calculation:
- The system will perform its auto-calculation using 3 months of historical data instead of 6 months.
Updating the Order Analysis Interval
The calculations performed using the full interval will take precedence over half-interval. In cases where the Order Analysis Interval is increased such that the item no longer has sufficient data to perform its calculation based on the full-interval but is sufficient for calculation based on half-interval, it will not recalculate using half-interval.
Scenario 1:
- Item A has sales history for 4 months
- Order Analysis Interval is set to 3 months
Auto-Calculation:
- The system will perform its auto-calculation using the full interval (3 months of historical data).
Scenario 2:
- The Order Analysis Interval in Scenario 1 is increased to 6 months
Auto-Calculation:
- The system will not use half-interval (3 months). Instead, the previous calculations will remain unchanged. It will stay this way until the system is able to run the auto-calculation on this item record using the full interval (6 months of historical data).
