Restrict Custom Role to Specific Custom Record Page Only

Scenario

Userwants to restrict aRolefrom accessing other pages apart from a specificCustom Recordpage.

Solution

  1. Create a NewCustom Center Type
    1. Navigate toCustomization>Centers and Tabs>Centers>New
    2. Label:Preferred Label
  2. Create a New Center Tab
    1. Navigate toCustomization>Centers and Tabs>Centers
    2. Look for the newly createdCustom Center Type
    3. ClickEdit
    4. ClickNew Tab
      • Label:EnterLabel
      • Categories:
        • ID:EnterScript ID
        • Name:EnterLabel
    5. ClickSave
    6. Categories:
      1. ClickEdit
      2. Link:SelectCustom Record Page
      3. ClickAdd
    7. ClickSave
  3. CreateCustom Role
    1. Navigate toSetup>User/Roles>Manage Roles>New
    2. General:
      • Name:EnterRole Name
      • Center Type:SelectCenter Type
    3. ClickPermission
    4. ClickCustom Record
      • Record:SelectCustom Record
      • Level:SelectFull
      • ClickAdd
    5. ClickSave
  4. AssignCustom Role
    1. Navigate toList>Employees>Employees
    2. Employee:ClickEdit
    3. ClickAccess
      1. Roles:SelectCustom Role
      2. ClickAdd
    4. ClickSave
Note:With the new Role and preferred Custom Record page, user may still be able to view the page of other centers types on the account like Reports tab, Support tab, Knowledge Base tab and other custom tabs which were published to all centers.
